Fran owns and runs DerektheDog Yoga Studio and teaches a wide range of classes including Ashtanga Vinyasa, gentle, Tibetan and pregnancy Yoga.
Fran was born and grew up in Exeter. In 1990 she moved to Asia where she was to spend the next thirteen years living and travelling extensively. Fran was captivated and inspired by Eastern philosophy and practices and she spent time living and studying in a number of temples and monasteries.
In 1992, whilst living in Japan, Fran met her first Yoga teacher and began the journey of her chosen life path. In 1997 Fran moved to India in order to study Yoga directly from its source.
Fran was fortunate and blessed to receive direct one-to-one instruction in the Yogic tradition of direct oral transmission from Guru to disciple. She received teachings in this way directly from three Yoga masters.
”After being exposed to such a wealth of wisdom and knowledge, it became my passion to pass on and share with others these incredible teachings. I endevour to pass on the essence of the practices free from dogma or cultural restrictions, so that it is relevant to everybody.”
Fran began teaching ladies’ Yoga classes in India in 2000. She returned to England in 2002 and took on the management of DerektheDog Yoga studio in Exeter, where she continues to teach on a full-time basis. Fran’s unique classes are informed and influenced by her wealth of direct knowledge and experience, by the teachings of Patanjai, Krishnamacharya and Ashtanga Vinyasa. She is also a certified British Wheel of Yoga teacher. Fran teaches a range of classes at DerektheDog, including Ashtanga and Pregnancy.
